Parametric Geometry Sketch Tool
Čižmarik, Roman ; Klepárník, Petr (referee) ; Zemčík, Pavel (advisor)
The aim of this work is to design and implement parametric geometry sketchtool. The solution to this problem consists of two parts, to create a library of base dynamic geometry functions and GUI. Functionality of the created library will be demonstrated by two user interfaces, each using the library in different way. Using the resulting library and toolkit Qt allows to quickly and easily create new geometric sketchtools.

The aim of this thesis was to create an application for the creation and manipulation of 2D and 3d models trough parametric construction. The work gradually describe the theoretical basis around the creation and representation of 3D models in computer graphics, the concepts of parametric construction and the introduction of similar applications, including their differences. Next is described method of creating an application based on the create design from the accuired knowledge. Finally, the application was tested, focusing on the testing user interface and the load on the rendering system.
The effect of DGE on the attainability of mathematical reasoning for geometry problems among mathematics teacher education students.
BLAŽEK, Jiří
Dynamic Geometry Environment (DGE) programs appeared in the early 1980s, but they did not begin to be used in education until the beginning of the new millennium. Today, they are widely used in teaching of mathematics. DGE class programs allow to mediate the abstract world of Euclidean geometry to students due to their features such as precision of construction, illustrativeness and the possibility to change the construction dynamically. It is generally accepted that appropriate implementation of DGE software in teaching improves its quality. A related question is what is the benefit of this software if a student uses it in the process of finding a solution to a solution to a mathematical problem. This question represents the general research problem of this thesis. The objects of the research were prospective teachers of mathematics at the Faculty of Education. The following findings were found in the research: 1) The software significantly facilitates the discovery of relevant hypotheses, even those for which their relationship to the solution of a problem is not evident from the assignment of the problem. 2) The software significantly helps in the development of logical justification. (Yet, a significant number of students in the research were unable to complete the proof even with the maximum help the software could provide.) 3) Finding relevant hypotheses using the software tools depends in most cases on students' ability to apply formal mathematical knowledge and to think logically. Facts that can be discovered with software tools by chance, without specific student intent, are likely strongly limited. Research has also dealt with the question of why some students are unable to complete a proof even with the help of software. The thesis contains seven chapters and an appendix. In the first three chapters, the research topic of the thesis is generally described. In chapter four, the research questions are formulated. In the following chapter, a model is presented to categorize the actions of the problem solver in the DGE with respect to the goal he/she pursues. Chapter six presents the research methodology, the data obtained and their interpretation. The results are summarized in the final chapter. The appendix contains two challenging geometric problems author has worked on during his studies and in whose solutions the DGE software played a crucial role.
The Factors Influencing the Usage of Modem Technologies in Teaching Mathematics
Havelková, Veronika
The aim of this thesis is to explore the factors influencing the usage of modern technologies in teaching Mathematics. Modern technologies have been gradually earning their place in Czech schooling for a while now, but they are not always used in the way we might expect. To address such a question, upon consulting various literary sources, this thesis presents a model of factors which influence the usage of technologies in teaching Mathematics and aims to answer the following questions. What factors influence the intended usage of technologies in teaching Mathematics? How do these factors influence the intended usage of technologies in teaching Mathematics? What are the differences between the intended usage and the real usage and what factors influence them? How do these factors influence the real usage in teaching Mathematics? The individual factors have been further explored by a multiple-case study of three Czech Mathematics teachers during their teaching and subsequential interviews. It was the form of a multiple-case study which allowed for deeper observation of the mutual relationships between the individual factors in teachers with very different approaches to teaching and modern technologies. The differences between the considered cases then provided an insight into what could help...

Sláma, Michal ; Jančařík, Antonín (advisor) ; Zamboj, Michal (referee)
TITLE: Experiments in DGS AUTHOR: Michal Sláma DEPARTMENT: Department of Mathematics and Mathematical Education SUPERVISOR: doc. RNDr. Antonín Jančařík, Ph. D. ABSTRACT The aim of this diploma thesis is to find out whether the pupils of the second stage of primary school, specifically the pupils of the 6th grade, are able to experiment independently in the environment of dynamic geometry with a suitably prepared material. The theoretical basis of the work includes the study of the valid intended curriculum of geometry at the second stage of primary school, the relationship of so-called inquiry-oriented teaching to the possibility of student experimentation in learning geometry, the study of pedagogical theories in connection with inquiry education and also in relation to mathematisation, which is in the teaching of mathematics and geometry necessarily required. The student experiment is conceived here as an independent didactic method. From the point of view of the feasibility of the experiment and subsequent research, the environment of dynamic geometry was chosen - the GeoGebra system. The theoretical part of the work ends with a description of parameters important for the feasibility of experimentation in the environment of dynamic geometry in the teaching of geometry. The research part deals with the...

Dynamic geometry software on touch devices in the teaching of mathematics
KOŠINOVÁ, Marie
The thesis is focused on the Sketchometry program and its meaningful usage. It is aimed at the program being joined within math lectures and there are two points of view - the teacher's one and the pupil's one. The thesis deals with the important aspects that influence the efficiency of the utilization of modern technologies in the schools. The results of the implemented projects in practice are contained in this work. The authentic photographs are added to make a better imagination of the workshops. The outputs from observation at the grammar school are presented by solved exercises made by the pupils in the Sketchometry program.
